Troubleshoot

Pick a group, then a room (or every room in the group). Lookout follows every TV's picture back to its source and checks each step.

First, select the source you want to troubleshoot on that room's TV (with the remote or touch panel), so Lookout checks the route that should be showing it.

    Signal goes to

Where this device's picture or sound goes next: an Apple TV to its NVX transmitter, a transmitter to every receiver that can watch it, a receiver to its TV. Used by Troubleshoot.

    Add a rack

Things in it that Lookout doesn't watch

Patch panels, shelves, blanks, fans. They're drawn so the picture matches the real rack.

    Rooms

Set up the boat's rooms first. Every device and audio zone picks its room from this list, so each room is spelled one way. Renaming a room updates everything in it.

    Import SIMPL

Read the boat's Crestron programs, complete the table, verify against the network, then add.

    Import a spreadsheet

Rooms, switches, cameras and access points. Anything else, add by hand.

    Router read-only access

Lookout signs in as admin once, creates (or reuses) a read-only API client called "Imagine Lookout", keeps only that client, and forgets the admin password. The client can only read, and you can revoke it from the router any time.

    Multicast addresses

Every stream's multicast address, so no two ever share one.

    Map switch ports

Which switch and port every device is plugged into, from the router's device list and each switch's MAC table (read-only). Nothing changes until you apply.

    Reports

Everything Lookout knows about the boat, for files and spreadsheets. No passwords: logins only say whether one is saved.

    Standard NVX names

Room NVX Decoder, Room NVX Dedicated Encoder, and Source NVX Global Encoder for the ones every room can watch. Untick any you'd rather keep.

    Check MAC addresses

For every device with an IP, what the network reports (the router's client list, this computer, the switches) against what Lookout has. Nothing on any device changes: missing MACs are filled in here, and a different one only if you tick it.

    Set up all switches

For each switch, one at a time: SSH access (this computer only, Telnet off, a new password Lookout keeps, proved before saving), then SNMP (read-only). A switch that fails is left unsaved; the others carry on. Look first shows exactly what would be sent, and changes nothing.

    Set up SSH access

Makes SSH secure: a 2048-bit key and version 2 only, SSH from this computer only, and a new random password for Lookout's own account (Lookout keeps it). Lookout signs in again with the new password before saving anything; if that fails, the old password goes back and nothing is saved.

    Set up SNMP

Turns on read-only SNMP over SSH, with the community from Lookout (never shown here), so Lookout can map switch ports. Look first: nothing on the switch changes until you press Apply and save.

Restarts are limited to 10 per person and 20 across the boat in any 10 minutes. A burst beyond that locks restarts for 15 minutes and emails you.

      Set up two-step sign-in

Signing in will need your password and a 6-digit code from your phone, so a stolen password alone can't get in.

      1. Open an authenticator app on your phone (Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, 1Password...).
      2. Scan this code, or type in the key below it.
      3. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows.
